Dear Vista Grande Families,

I am thrilled to be the principal of Vista Grande Elementary and anticipate an exciting year as we collectively strive to foster a culture of learning. I feel extremely fortunate to be working with such an exceptional group of students, families, and staff members! I value the the commitment and talent on campus—Vista Grande is a wonderful place to be!

I have served the students of the San Diego Unified School District as an elementary and middle school teacher, district literacy curriculum writer and instructional coach, district literacy resource teacher, site literacy coach, and vice principal. I believe students’ interests and curiosity provide intrinsic motivation that lead students on a road of life-long learning with teachers as facilitators. As an administrator I have encouraged students and teachers to meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, values diversity, and encourages problem-solving collaboration.

Another key ingredient that has shaped my leadership is being a parent. My family includes my fabulous husband, David, and our three beautiful children. Besides enjoying the time with my family, I take pleasure in reading, gardening, hiking, cooking, and traveling.  Like most modern families, we embrace a life of excitement and memorial adventures and staying very, very, busy!

In using my experiences as an educator and as a parent, I will serve the Vista Grande community with vision, passion, commitment, and transparency. I am thrilled to be joining the already outstanding dynamic team at Vista Grande!
